An information session was held in the new ball alley on Thursday evening to tell the locals all about what’s happening with the 7 concerts. “The place is suddenly lovely and clean”, said one local. “The ground outside and even the footpaths all got buffed the other day” said another. “Ah here, where’s the lovely flowers gone that were growing at the dwarf wall” asked someone?
A couple of councillors are ‘all for it’ said a local busy body. “You see these begrudgers, taking away our sanity” said someone. One poor woman was seen rocking back and forth in her front garden muttering that “if they’re gonna do it I wish they’d just get on with it”. One local commented that your one’s gonna loose it “I mean she’s already smoking major, if this goes ahead, she’ll end up like a cuckoo”.
“Some say it was a loss to the community last time and some even think the problem was with Clonliffe road residents as if nobody else had a problem”, said someone. “Some say it would give the community something to look forward to now”. “What about all those who don’t look forward to the concerts and what about the street traders” asked someone else? “What if Gareth thinks he would find a totally different Croke Park environment and then discovers it’s still just our kip”?
“With a bit of luck your man will stick with his contract and nothing will happen” came a voice from out a window. All we know is, nobody wants another disaster but it looks like the same event planning process as last time. Nobody knows how it got to this again and nobody wants to play the blame game. That outdated, draconian legislation was meant to be changed. Who will be the real loser this time?
